We at Touché Publishing, are happy to announce that Set in Stone: The Life and Death of Medusa by R.C. Berry and Enchanted Island by May Torres, are both one year old today! Both authors poured their hearts into the pages of their first novels. It has been a year full of hard-work, getting the books out to the public. Neither has any regrets about the path they chose for themselves.

When asked what the biggest challenge they faced during the past year, in regards to their book releases, R.C. Berry had this to say, “I think the biggest challenge is marketing.  It’s very hard to find what your true demographic is, because you never know how someone will react to your works.  Getting any product in front of the right people is never easy.” May Torres agreed and added that, “Getting people interested wasn’t the hard part. But getting people to follow through and purchase our titles has been a big challenge. As R.C. stated, it’s difficult to find what your true demographic is. Just when you think you have a firm grasp of who will enjoy your book, the readers throw you a curve ball.”

Both titles have been received well by the readers. R.C Berry’s fan base anxiously await the second installment in the Set in Stone trilogy. We promise to keep the fans updated on the current work in progress. We’re sure the fans will agree, it will be worth the wait. Enchanted Island fans have expressed an interest in a sequel. At this time, May Torres is working on a fantasy novel and intends to work on an Enchanted Island sequel at a later date.

R.C. Berry and May Torres  feel deep gratitude for the support they have received thus far. They appreciate every kind word spoken about their work, and themselves. It’s been quite a while since this blog has been updated. The writers at Touché Publishing, have been very busy over the past year. I’ll take just a moment to recap what’s been going on.  In April of 2010, we released two new titles.  Set in Stone: The Life and Death of Medusa by R.C. Berry and Enchanted Island by May Torres. Both titles have sold several copies with great reviews.

Set in Stone is penned as a trilogy, with many fans anxiously awaiting the second installment.  R.C. Berry is currently working on it and is set to be released later this year.  R.C. Berry fans, don’t fret. We promise not to make you wait too long for the third installment

May Torres is also working on a new project for 2011. Her readers have approached her, expressing a desire for a sequel to Enchanted Island.  She intends to give the readers what they want, once the current project is completed.

In addition to the book releases, both authors attended an event called Faeriecon.  They participated in this event as vendors, where they sold their books among other items.  The two had attended Faeriecon the year before and decided to be exhibitors upon returning in 2010.  They displayed yet another creative side when they offered a host of handmade items.  You can take a look at their other project at hobknoballey.com or visit their store at esty.com

Enchanted Island was penned for the Young Adult audience but, is proving to be a hit with adults as well.   Though it may appear that, the story is suited for a certain group of people, The Latino community to be exact, it’s not.  People of all backgrounds have taken to this supernatural tale.  Most people who read it, ask the author if she’s going to write a second installment. The readers have connected with the characters and, want to know more about what happens to them, beyond the end of the story.  Be prepared to laugh, cry, and for anything in between. The story is about courage, friendship, love and, the birth of a nation. You will learn something new, all while being entertained.

Set in Stone: The Life and Death of Medusa will make a  Greek Mythology fan out of anyone.  Some are saying they were never really interested in Greek Mythology until they read this book.  Everyone knows, or thinks they know, what they need to, about Medusa. Well, the novel goes to show that, we have another thing coming.  With just the perfect amount of the myth, the author spins a tale that rivals any television drama series out there today.  Betrayal, love, jealousy! Soap operas of today, wish their story lines were this good. Readers are losing sleep, trying to finish this book. To top it all off, the novel is just the first in the Trilogy!

If you’ve already read these titles, then you know what I’m talking about.  If you haven’t, then you’re missing out! Lots of people don’t like taking chances on unknown authors.  Especially in these times, people are watching what they spend their hard-earned cash on. I’m willing to bet, if you take a chance on our upcoming authors, you won’t be disappointed.  We spend money on all sorts of disposable items without even blinking, yet find it difficult to dole out money for books.  For a few dollars more than, the price of a movie ticket, you get far better entertainment value in one of our books.  The good thing about it is, it’s yours to keep.  You can  revisit it anytime you want, by simply opening the cover.

I’ll start with this: I am highly anticipating Set In Stone: Afterlife. I need more of
this story. R.C. Berry has taken a familiar tale and quickened it with a wild dose
of emotion, sensuality and divine machination. I particularly enjoyed the twist in
perspective regarding Perseus’ involvement; this distinction is simply brilliant.
Gods plot, monsters rampage and mortals just try to survive. I can’t wait for
more.

Set in Stone: The Life and Death of Medusa was a real page turner, I finished it
in about 3 days.  And I have 2 kids.  I thought I would not be really interested in it,
I have never been a fan of Mythology.  But I was wrong!  The story moves, and
the characters, while gods and goddesses, are believable.  The emotion felt
with these characters feels real, and the whole story was very enjoyable, and I
loved reading it!!

I really enjoyed the entire story line, the characters, development and the
suspense. The book had just the right amount of passion and sex to keep me
wanting MORE!!   She is going to be another Diana Gabaldon… my favorite
author!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I could not put it down!! Medusa is one of the
most fascinating characters in Greek Mythology yet there are not many stories
written about her. This book starts at her birth and takes you on an emotional
roller coaster ride up until her death. This is a great story with love, betrayal, and
revenge that leaves you anxiously waiting for the next installment
